Community Life at Gloucester House

Residents at Gloucester House bring their own individual stories and talents, interests and personalities. We have designed our facility to accommodate and celebrate our residents’ desires for choices about how to spend their time.

For those looking for renewing relaxation, Gloucester House offers a sunroom in both the Assisted Living community and the Memory Care community. Outdoors, residents can read or visit in the lighted gazebo, reflect next to the fish pond or enjoy a swing in the furnished courtyard. Residents with an interest in staying active are invited to plant their own flowers and vegetables in the garden areas of Gloucester House. Summertime tomato crops sometimes make their way into the meals at Gloucester House!

In our Memory Care community, grill-outs and picnics are a popular in our covered outdoor area. The secure space is perfect for exercise and gatherings in all weather.

Thanks to our enthusiastic Activities Directors on staff and many caring volunteers, Gloucester House is bustling with all kinds of activity for residents. Seniors can play in the sporty Billiard Room, dress up for an in-house Fashion Show, or sign up for pampering in the Beauty Shop. Our residents can have visitors anytime they like, and are free to pursue their favorite hobbies.

Each month’s Activities Calendar includes opportunities like:

  • Local shopping outings and day trips
  • Bingo, crafts, pet therapy
  • Programs from local schools and groups
  • Themed holiday and birthday parties
  • Gardening with Master Gardeners
  • Piano playing and singing
  • In-house Beauty Shop
  • Family Night buffet and entertainment
  • Fellowship and worship with local churches

Residents who are able to drive are invited to keep their own vehicle at Gloucester House and take advantage of the independence that affords them.

Gloucester House has an active Resident’s Council that meets monthly and gives seniors a voice in their community.

Because of our close work with the Alzheimer’s Association, residents in our Sweet Memories Memory Care program can enjoy special music and art programs, and can even apply for scholarships to cover care at Gloucester House. The Alzheimer’s Association also organizes and runs a free weekly support group for family members accompanying their loved ones through the process of memory loss, Alzheimer’s or dementia.
